セミナーの概要 / Introduction

数学教育学研究の普及と促進のため数学教育学セミナー（通称，早稲田セミナー）を開催しています．

本セミナーでは，発表時間とディスカッションの時間を多く取り，参加者のコミュニケーションを大事にしています．それにより，参加者が研究内容への理解を深めるとともに，研究を実際に発展させることができればと考えています．また，研究コミュニティの形成や大学院生などの研究者育成にも貢献できればと思います． 数学教育学の研究に関心のある学内外の皆様，お気軽に参加いただければと思います．

なお，セミナーのご案内はこれまでに参加申込みをされた方にもお送りしております．案内が不要な場合はお知らせください．

Title Mathematical modelling as a lens on AI: Exploring human and machine reasoning through the game Race to Twenty
Abstract The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has intensified discussions about its role in teaching and learning. While existing research predominantly frames AI as a supportive tool in mathematics education, considerably less attention has been given to AI as an object of inquiry. This study addresses this gap by exploring how mathematical modelling can be used not only to solve problems, but also to investigate AI as a phenomenon.
The study is situated in initial teacher education and builds on a dual modelling trajectory based on the strategy game Race to Twenty. In the first trajectory, pre-service teachers engage with the game in its analogue form, developing winning strategies through recursive reasoning and algebraic generalisation. In the second trajectory, they interact with a mini-AI able to learn to play the game, shifting the focus of inquiry towards questions concerning how the artificial agent “learns”, what data it draws upon, and which rules govern its decision-making.
The research question guiding the study is: How can a dual modelling trajectory—scaffolded from analogue gameplay to the investigation of AI processes—support the development of mathematical knowledge that enables pre-service teachers to model and critically reflect on AI?
The theoretical framework is grounded in the anthropological theory of the didactic, conceptualising modelling as a study and research path. Analysis using Q&A diagrams shows how the analogue trajectory foregrounds algebraic reasoning, while the AI-mediated trajectory introduces probabilistic and computational perspectives.
The study suggests that mathematical modelling can function as a powerful lens for engaging with AI in teacher education.

このたび，Denmark-Japan PhD research seminar in mathematics education を開催します．本セミナーは，デンマークおよび日本の early career researchers（博士課程院生および博士課程を最近修了した研究者）の研究交流を目的としたもので，対面で実施します．

セミナーでは，デンマークと日本の研究者9名が英語で研究発表を行う予定です．プログラムの詳細は追って連絡します．

本セミナーは対面のみでの開催となります．
